Ahh tis the Season

First off, I have to share this photo as it cracked me up. I was flipping channels today and came across a dog competition show. I pointed the dogs out to Maddie and I swear to you, she sat there and watched it!! Every once in awhile she'd look behind the tv out the window to see where they went. I snapped this with my camera phone thankfully!

Today I got all the tree stuff out and Maddie was totally interested in it. She tried to bite every branch as I sorted them then just sat there and watched me.

Now that the ornaments are on it, we had to keep them up kinda high because she keeps running by and snagging them off since she thinks they are toys! Little brat hahaha! You can tell the bottom branch is empty!

Poor old Kasey likes to chill on the tree skirt and here you can see Maddie with her ball trying to tempt Kasey to play but she's having nothing to do with it!!

I have a feeling this will be an interesting month with Maddie and the tree....stay tuned :)

Turkey and Cows

I had a really good time yesterday meeting Greg's family. I think they liked me too :) The cookies were a HUGE hit, I think I bought 6 home! Click here for the recipe!

I can guarantee you that I did something that NOBODY else did though...I watched a cow be impregnated LOL

Greg's family has been in the cattle business for generations so yesterday when he told me he had to run home to meet a guy to breed a heffer...oh you better believe I was going with camera in hand!! Why on Thanksgiving you ask? Well they have cycles too and that was her day! haha!!

Cookie Success

I have to blog this because I was told to by Jess since she was shocked I owned a mixer. Granted it is a shitastic brown 1980's model handed down to me by my mother but hey, it works right? LOL

I made the cookies I mentioned in my previous post...oh my goodness...heaven!! Miranda helped me too, she had fun!! She had to leave before she got to taste them though. I was good and have only had one so far! I made four dozen and have them all packed up ready to go for today!!

I guess your supposed to take a 'before' picture of everything right? Don't you dig my built in cutting board? NOT! That just grosses me out and I cannot wait to get new countertops!!

It got hard to mix two boxes of cake mix so Miranda offered her help!

The kids will be with their dad tomorrow through Sunday. My mom is driving to Colorado to see my brother and his family. I am going with Greg and his kiddos to two of his family dinners...wowza help me! Talk about a crazy way to meet everyone for the first time! I am NOT a cook/baker/Bettty Crocker/Martha Stewart by ANY means but I am going to make two batches of these and take them to both dinners. Hey I'm trying right? haha!!

Shoes

Miranda went online and found a pair of shoes that she loved and begged me to get them for her. I had just bought a pair a few weeks earlier so I told her she didn't need them. Well my little miss money bags brings me enough of HER OWN money to pay for them! I went ahead and got them ordered last week. Every day she's asked when are they going to be here. Well they came in a big box yesterday and I didn't open them until she got home.

When we did...this is what we found. We had accidentally ordered a toddler size!!! LOL They are so cute and tiny but unfortunately my daughter follows in my shoe size and they are just a tad (said sarcastically) too small *giggles*

LOVE Short Work Weeks

Not that most of mine have already been cut down to 4 day work weeks since I've taken Fridays off but I have a 3 day work with this week AND next week cuz I took next Monday off as well.

Wow, that was the longest sentence ever huh?

My boss is back today though, she's been off the past 2 weeks on her honeymoon. I'm sure she's playing serious catch up. I sent her a quick instant message welcoming her back and haven't heard from her since!

Don't you hate it when you have a pet that doesn't feel good? Kasey, my old girl, has an upset stomach. I can hear it gurgling, poor thing. She ate grass when she went out last so you know what that has led to...ugh. Usually when I pet her, Maddie goes insanely jealous and jumps on you, bites your arm, basically anything to say HEYYY LOOKIE MEEEE! Well today after Kasey lost her cookies, I was gently petting her back and Maddie was standing there looking at Kasey wondering what the hell she was doing. Then Maddie slowly came up and put her head under my arm to get close to both of us to basically check on her. It was so damn cute.

Nothing more of importance to report, just another typical Monday :)

Busy Saturday sheesh

Got up, ran Kyler to open gym at his school, came home, got ready, went back and got Kyler, went across the street of my house to watch my friend's daughter's basketball game, went home and changed, went around town and took pictures for Christmas cards, went rollerskating, went to Target, went to Red Robin, rented movies, downloaded pictures, created and submitted Christmas card order online and am now finally blogging...whew...LOL

Ah Friday YES

Well I got my fence quote...LESS than expected so I am soooooo happy and they can start as early within the next two weeks! I am SO excited! Not too excited to hand over that chunk of change but it's 15 degrees out right now...sucks letting the pooches out sheesh!! I do have one of those stake things to attach their leashes to but gave the run cords to someone and so I'd have to go buy new ones.

Oh well...HAPPY FRIDAY right???!!!

Ok I know it's only 42 degrees and windy and we haven't had any snow yet but it is still cold!!! Call me a wuss :)

I'm getting SO tired of taking Maddie out on the leash but until I get a fence or something I have to. She got out the other night and I honestly don't know how she didn't get his by this truck that was flying down the street. I had a guy come to give me a quote on a fence today. He measured the yard and I actually gave him two options of what I'd like to do, the full yard or part of the yard. He hasn't emailed me the quote yet but I'm anticipating $2500-$3000...UGH!! PLEASE let it be lower :)

I got some really good feedback for music yesterday from here as well as Facebook. I loaded my iPod up last night and was jamming the whole way to and from dinner with Greg and his kiddos. They still like me oh and I got invited to go with them for Thanksgiving EEK! I am sure I will go because it's either that or I stay home alone. I could go to Jess's too cuz she loves me and invited me!

Tomorrow is Friday which means NO WORK! Remember I took every Friday off through the end of the year??? Wahooooo!!! No plans so I'll probably veg on the couch til the kiddos get home.

We really have no plans for the weekend but I think I am going to offer to have Jen's kiddos stay the night at least one of the nights because she having gall bladder surgery today and I'm sure could use a peaceful house. Maybe we will go roller skating or something fun like that!!!

Music Motivation

Just an update, I have been doing really well going to the gym but I am now finding myself bored with my music. I have well over 500 songs on my iPod which isn't even at half capacity. I skip about every other song just cuz I've heard it so many times.

I'm giving my readers an assignment if you so choose to accept it -

I did some calculating this morning and to reach my goals that I mentioned before, I only need to lose 1.5 lbs a week! I was thinking I was going to have to kill myself for it!! Realizing that is all I need to do made me super happy because when I weighed after my first week and had only lost 1.5 lbs, I was a little upset but hey...I'm right on target!!!

So then as I was in wonder of my new delight, I turn around to see this...Maddie busted with Miranda's boot. Notice the basket of dog toys right behind her even! UGH silly dogs, boots are for girls!

The post prior to this explains this morning...well at 11:50 I got another call from the school, Miranda had a 101.1 fever so I had to go get her and she can't go back until she's fever free for 24 hours.

Poor baby :(

Ugh Mondays and school

So Miranda is now in the habit of 'my stomach huuuuuuuuuuurts' every Monday morning! She cried all morning, all the way to the bus stop and then was not wanting to get on the bus. Finally her friend came to the front and took her hand and she got on the bus, never looking back to say goodbye. Sure enough, 8:10 the secretary was calling me saying Miranda was in the office. I basically told her she's in a rut and doesn't want to go to school on Mondays! I know she has had legit days but c'mon, it's becoming a routine and I'm not falling for it. I just blow it off because I know she's fine but it still makes me feel horrible to watch her cry like that. *sigh*

Mini Reunion

It was so much fun seeing the girls from school last night. I haven't laughed like that in a long time! They want me to come to their reunion next summer haha!!! Here's a few pictures :)

Ok today is COLD!! The wind is blowing and it's only 40 degrees, I am SO not ready for cold weather!! I'm gonna curl up on my couch for awhile before heading out for dinner tonight.

Friday Quickie

Ohhh how I am loving having Fridays off!! I don't think my butt left the couch too many times. YAY ME!!

But now I am going to go get ready to go out tonight. I am SO excited!! I have reconnected with so many classmates on Facebook and come to find out, there are actually quite a few around KC so we are having a mini reunion tonight! I am not sure how many are going but I do know about 4 other girls are. Heck, even if it's just us we will have fun catching up. The funny part is, they are in the class after mine so I'm the old fart of the group!

Hello Kids

So last night I met Greg's kids...for the first time...eek!

He has met mine and has been around them a couple times already. Remember the post about the first date? This was soooo much like it except I was nervous about meeting three new people!

I guess they had been asking to meet me for a couple weeks but he wanted to make sure things were right for it.

I went to his house for dinner and Jessica (7) had set the table. I was told to sit in a particular spot (maybe so they could all look at me better). Morgan (9) had lit a little candle on the table too. Adam (6) bolted out the door and came back in with a handful of dandelions for me. It was so cute, he got his favorite coffee mug, put water in it and gave me the flowers. They talked up a storm during dinner and I was sure to ask lots of questions which would make them talk more!

After dinner as Greg was cleaning up the table, the kids took me on the grand tour of the house making sure to show me their rooms and all their favorite things. Then it was GAME ON! We played bowling on the Wii. I had never played it before but yes, I kicked their little butts hahahaha! But then Greg challenged me and he won...cheater!!

Overall I think it was a success and I survived and they want to see me again so in reality I WON!

To gym or not to gym

So I have again started going to the gym regularly. I go in spurts and I need to stop and just GO!

I feel good when I go, there's no doubt about that. I get the kids off to school and then I hit the gym, so easy to do right??

So why am I starting this again right before the holidays??? Am I crazy??? LOL

I am setting two goals. 10 pounds by New Years and then another 10 pounds by my birthday, Feb. 16th. That's 20 pounds in 3 months. Pretty agressive but I will be happy with whatever I accomplish. Greg has set a goal of 30 pounds by then as well, I don't think he needs to but if he wants to, I will help him as well!

Start of another week

Well I had a pretty non eventful weekend which is JUST fine with me!! The weather is staying cool, it was 35 at the bus stop this morning...brrr! The kids bundled up in layers yesterday and sumo wrestled on the trampoline, it was quite funny! We didn't go to the Regional play off game Saturday night but Paola beat Columbus so now they will play at Holton Friday night. Good luck Panthers!!

Oh exciting for me!! I won some fantastic pumpkin butter from Tabitha over at Fresh Mommy!! I can't wait to get it!!! Thanks Tabitha!!!

Grrrr

Just a quick vent...I need a fence dammit! My yard is not fenced and for the most part my dogs will stay in the yard amazingly enough. They wander around and do their business. Kasey is 13 so she's not too energetic and Maddie being a 6 mon old puppy pretty much sticks by and torments Kasey.

But not lately....Maddie bolts out the door and looks immediately for a squirrel, jogger, biker whatever so that she can chase them. She will come back after I scream at her long enough but damn, I'm too old to be chasing them! Kasey will slowly follow Maddie as well so then it leads to me chasing Maddie then once I have her back in the house, going back and rounding up slow poke Kasey.

I have priced dog runs and that might be what I have to go with (if not just hooking them up to a
stake while they are outside) after I get my fence quote on Friday. I have a feeling it is going to be too much for me to afford. Luckily how my yard is set up, I really only need two sides of it. My house and the neighbors fence would make up the other two sides.

YES thank god yesterday is FINALLY OVER!!! That's all I am going to say :)

The kids and I went to our high school football game last night. It was the Bi-District game. Paola won so now they will play on Saturday in the Regional game. Good luck boys!! It was cool to see how many people came out 1) on a Tuesday and 2) on that night of all nights.

My son has decided to try wrestling...ugh. I am not a wrestling fan what so ever but this is kind of a trial. He has gone to practice this week and will get to wrestle in a match on Thursday. I secretly am hoping he gets his butt whooped and he hates it but I know in my head that he is going to love it. He talks NON STOP about it right now so maybe he will be a late bloomer and do well. I guess we will see!

I haven't been good at updating you on how the kids and I are doing in my football pick'em. As of right now through week 9 we stand like this -

Me - in a two way tie for 3rd (my brother and sister in law are 1st and 2nd)
Kyler - in 9th
Miranda - in a two way tie for 10th

Not too bad for 18 people playing!!

Already???

As I walked into the fine Wal-Mart establishment this morning I was greeted by this huge Christmas tree and signs pointing to the Christmas shop! UGHHHHH!!! I hate that they are already doing this! I kid you not, I was there less than 12 hours earlier and this stuff was NOT up! The little Wal-Mart elves were busy last night I guess. Sorry, I have a scrooge side to me that comes out often!

On a brighter note, Miranda is feeling much better. I spent $20 at the doctor's yesterday to tell me that it's just her normal allergies and to continue with the Zyrtec and to add some over the counter cough stuff. Wow, I could've told ya that but I wanted to just make sure because had I not taken her, I'm sure it would've been worse. That's how it usually goes right??

On an even brighter note, I scheduled all of my vacation days! I basically have off every Friday off through the end of the year starting next week! I threw in a couple of Mondays and other days too since some Fridays were already holidays. Yay!!
