The things you see in a small town

The kids and I went to the our high school scrimmage soap game this morning which was pretty cool. It was just our team playing each other but it was a great way to start the season. After that we were headed home and I pulled up along side a trailer that was packed full of .... stuff. I looked over and did a double take. Yes, that was boobs I saw! LOL I mean seriously the trailer was packed, could they not put the mannequin somewhere inside??? The kids and I laughed about this all day! Luckily for you all I snapped a picture with my camera phone :)

I have a TEAM!!!

Tonight was the big draft night...dum dum duuuuuuuum *dramatic music*

Miranda had gone through her yearbook last night and narrowed it down to six little girls she would like for me to pick. Wasn't that nice of her? It was me and six other coaches for the 3rd/4th grade draft. I picked #3, right in the middle. In the first round you got to pick your kid and then two other choices. Would you believe #1 and #2 picked four out of the six girls from Miranda's list???? Sheesh! So at least she got two of her choices right?? After that I didn't really care because I really didn't know any of the other names so I was looking at what grade the girl was in and what size shirt they ordered. I know, some selection criteria huh?

Oh the other fun pick we had to do was to pick our team name aka color of shirt. In past years they had really bright cute little girlie color shirts - bright green, light pink, light blue etc etc. Not this year, they decided to go with the standard league teams/colors which are that of the Big 12 Tournament. Hmmm no girlie colors there so I did the next best thing and picked to be the Missouri Tigers because they are yellow and black which just happen to be our Paola Panther school colors!!! Thank you thank you...I did good, Miranda even thought so! Of course when I called Miranda to tell her who I got for the team, her first question was...are we the pink team? Then I had to explain it and she was good with it.

I got home and called the parents of all 6 of my little girls and they were happy to hear from me, especially Miranda's two friends. One more week til game time!! The season starts on Sept 6th and runs through Oct 25, then there is a tournament that last weekend. Games are every Saturday morning.

My one dilema is...who am I going to teach how to use my brand new camera to take pictures of the first sport my daughter has ever played since I won't be able to????? ARG!!!

Ok my eyes are now swollen...

My all time favorite romantic movie is 'Serendipity'. I love it, I own it (received it as a gift *smile*) and watch it often. I have often recommended it to Jess but she hadn't ever seen it. Well I noticed the other night it was going to be on tv so I told her and she DVR'd it. Her fav movie is 'P.S. I Love You' which I had never seen so tonight I rented it. Holy cry buckets, I am an absolute mess!!! My eyes are so puffy but I love it, it's gonna be one I soon own. For those of you that know nothing about either....let me fix that!

Jonathan and Sara bump into each other while Christmas shopping in Bloomingdale's, when they both grab the same pair of black cashmere gloves at the same time. They go for coffee at a cafĂ© named Serendipity which, Jonathan discovers, is Sara's favorite word. A firm believer in the power of fate, she refuses to give Jonathan her phone number – instead, she writes her name and number inside the cover of a book, which she then sells to a secondhand bookshop, telling him that if they are meant to be together, the book will find its way to him. Likewise, she makes him write his number on a $5 bill, which she promptly spends, telling him that if fate decrees it, the bill will find its way back to her. A few years on, Jonathan and Sara are both engaged to other people, but each keeps thinking about whether the other is their true soulmate, and then they start to see signs which they interpret as the fates trying to tell them something…This is a charming romantic comedy – a heavy suspension of reality is required, but that's surely part of the point. Sara's willingness to leave her future to fate slightly beggars belief, but Beckinsale manages to make Sara appealing enough. It's prettily shot and perfectly paced – the movie never flags but everything pitches along perfectly towards the inevitable but agreeable conclusion (it also keeps itself to a restrained 90 minutes, which seems increasingly unusual among modern movies). Cusack is, as always, utterly adorable, with more sex appeal than 100 Brad Pitts. A little bit of perfect escapism.

Holly Kennedy is beautiful, smart and married to the love of her life - a passionate, funny, and impetuous Irishman named Gerry. So when Gerry's life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly. The only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there. Nobody knows Holly better than Gerry. So it's a good thing he planned ahead. Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her, not only through her grief, but in rediscovering herself. The first message arrives on Holly's 30th birthday in the form of a cake, and to her utter shock, a tape recording from Gerry, who proceeds to tell her to get out and "celebrate herself". In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered in surprising ways, each sending her on a new adventure and each signing off in the same way; P.S. I Love You. Holly's mother and best friends begin to worry that Gerry's letters are keeping Holly tied to the past, but in fact, each letter is pushing her further into a new future. With Gerry's words as her guide, Holly embarks on a journey of rediscovery in a story about marriage, friendship and how a love so strong can turn the finality of death into a new beginning for life.

Ladies and Gentlemen...I'd like to introduce to you....

COACH TRISH :)

Yes you read that right. I got a call tonight from the head of the league that Miranda is going to be playing volleyball in. I guess there has been so many late sign ups that they are going to redo the teams and needed more coaches. I said I would go ahead and coach...EEK! The draft meeting is Thursday night so that is where I am going to pick my little rut rats of 3rd and 4th graders for a team.

I told Miranda to scout out some talent for me on the playground the next two days. Wish me luck!

Really Nothing Much To Say

But I figured I had better blog something right??
Neener neener boo boo!

No more pictures please!

Both kiddos were home sick yesterday. Poor Miranda, her allergies were kicking her butt and I think she has a summer cold too. She could barely breathe. Kyler had a stomach bug and spent most of the morning sleeping or in the bathroom. No detail needed right?

Of course she was just fine last week :)

I let her take pictures....word to yo 9 year old...

Today it has been SO nice out, it's already 3pm and I have had my windows open and fans on all day. It's just now hitting 85 and getting warm so I think I'm going to have to shut the house up and turn the air on or else listen to the kiddos complain! Kyler has practice again today as normal, at least it's not SUPER hot like it was last week.

That's Kyler #17...can you spot him in the swarm of yellow? LOL I just made myself giggle! Swarm...bees...yellow and black...get it?? Ok, ok enough. They aren't the bees, they are the Panthers.
Monday is a work holiday so YAY and I just got an email that we are done at 2pm on Friday! Granted working from home that doesn't mean too much other than I get to walk away from the laptop without too much guilt since it is legit...LOL Yes I tend to take ME breaks alot but who cares, I get the work done!! Ahhhhh, I've gone loopy today!!!

I am in love with the Burst setting....

We were watching Kyler's practice on Friday and I was messing around with the settings and options.

I don't even have to explain these, I just love it!!!

Whew what a weekend!

I tell ya, when it's Roots Festival weekend in this little town I live in, the entire town and then some are there!!!
Hayley, Miranda and Delayney

Kyler with his cool shades

Miranda got an air brush tattoo of a gecko on her ankle

Just like the real tattoo her mama has on her ankle hehe

Friday night Jess and Brad came down. We sat in our lawn chairs and had some adult beverages while listening to some music. We wandered around the vendor booths, sampled some yummy BBQ, talked, laughed...you name it. Was lots of fun!! I think I got home at 1am!
I am the queen of self portraits

Saturday (after I finally rolled outta bed about 11), my ex dropped the kids off so they could go ahead and spend the day there with me cuz he had other things to do. It was another long hot day but overall we had a really good time. I held off on the adult beverages until the evening but then the jello shots came out...EEK! I am not a shot person but I had a few of them. I had a blast sitting with Jen and her friends.

Jamie, Jen and I

This doesn't need a caption really...now does it?

Today I am being a total BUM! But I do have laundry, cleaning and grocery shopping to do...blah. Oh and I gotta get caught up on blogs :)

Some Pictures from My New Camera

I snapped some tonight as Kasey, Maddie and I were outside. The flowers are super close up by I was trying different settings. Of course the ones of the poochies are the cutest!!

Happy Thursday!

Good morning everyone :)

I got to play with my new camera a little bit last night and wow, there is a lot to learn. It's um quite different from my little Kodak point and shoot...eek! Good news is my current memory card works so I can start snapping away!!! I bought a camera bag that I think will work out great. It's big enough I can put my personal things (phone, keys wallet) when I take it but not huge and bulky.

I got a call last night from Miranda's new volleyball coach. She will be on the kiwi team which she is quite excited about. The shirts last night were a really pretty bright green color so hopefully they will be similar this year. Her season runs Sept 6-Oct 25th with games every Saturday morning. I am going to help coach too which I am happy about. I love playing and had played for years so it will be fun to teach 3rd and 4th graders. It's so cute watching them rarely ever actually hit it over the net but hey, they are having fun right?

I'm being very bad today...*hangs head in shame*
  1. I skipped the gym this morning but will try to go tonight to make up for it.
  2. I stopped by McD's this morning with the thought of just getting a Diet Coke but ended up with a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit.
  3. I am working from my couch in front of the tv because I didn't move my laptop back to my desk after working last night.

Sigh...oh well, as long as I can admit my issues that is a good thing LOL

I'm a Big Kid Now!

YAY I could've kissed the UPS man when he FINALLY got here today! Sheesh how dare he make me wait until almost 4pm!!!

Jess wanted me to take pictures of the camera so here they are! Now I'm off to go figure this thing out! I don't have my memory card yet but should tomorrow or Friday (it's already been shipped) so actual pictures FROM my camera will have to wait. Heck it will probably take that long to figure it out!!!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I did it *gulp*

I caved and did it, I bought the camera..eek!

Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12MP Digital SLR Camera

I should have it by tomorrow even :) I might not get the memory card until a day or so later so I will post pictures from it as soon as I can or as soon as I can figure the darn thing out!!!

Work is Blah

I feel lost not having checked out everyone's blogs yesterday not to mention even blogging myself!!! Work got the best of me and I knew if I stopped and even starting reading I'd be in trouble so I was a good girl and stayed away!! I will get caught up with everyone today though!!

Kyler started football practice yesterday and he was wore out! Two hours in the sun running and doing drills is tough! He's loving it though. His first game isn't until the first week of September so that means practice Mon-Fri until then!

Miranda is going to sign up for volleyball! I am so excited and proud of her!! She has never really shown interest in something so I am glad she is now. I am going to sign up as an assistant coach if they need one. I don't feel confident in being the main coach (although I have played sand volleyball while drinking beer with friends and have also been the team captain for many years) but I would love to help out.

Just wanted to do a quick blog....back to work and to blog reading when I can!!

Floor is done!!!

Well almost haha

Go figure I was TWO yes TWO tiles short UGH! Oh well I'll get them and be completely done tomorrow. I thought a box of 30 tiles would be enough...grrrr!!! It went super fast and I'm so happy with how it turned out!!

Just like Sunday Morn'

Good morning!

It's been a really nice weekend so far. Friday night the kids and I went over to Randy's for pizza and to just hang out. The kids jumped on the tramp and played volleyball.

Saturday both kids asked to have friends spend the night so I caved. Miranda's friend Ashley got to our house about 11:30 and we all headed to the pool for a couple hours. The water was freeeeeeezing so we didn't last too long. Kyler's plans changed about five times but he ended up going over to Laike's house and those two along with three other boys went to the middle school dance that was being held. He also ended up just staying over at Laike's.

The girls had been walking around in the afternoon at the square and found out that there was going to be live music every Saturday night so we called Randy and his kiddos and we headed up there. The kids ran around like crazy while Randy and I parked our butts in chairs and talked to some friends. Living in a small town cracks me up sometimes LOL If you click the link for the square, you'll see the little gazebo, that's where they performed and lots of old folks and people (like us) just sat around listening. It was something nice to do and will be each Saturday night. Not next weekend though, that's the Roots Festival that is a blast every year! Jess and Brad are going to come down Friday night to go with us. I can't wait!!

Oh yea I was gonna work on my bathroom...forgot about that. Well I got it all swept out and decided how I was going to start the tile then I called Randy to go to the lumbar yard to get the wood...welp we got there and it was closed so now I have to wait til sometime next week to get it. So the most I can get done today is install the tile, which is my goal. The rest will have to come in the next week or so.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend, I'm off to make cinnamon rolls for the girls :)

Miranda's Bathroom

Remember that room that I have been redoing since oh I don't know...FOREVER AGO????

No? Ok let's get you caught up then...

May 23rd

May 30th

June 4th

June 6th

June 12th

June 16th

June 29th

Ok caught up now? We all know how insanely busy my July was so yes, I haven't done anything to the bathroom since the end of June so I think it's about time!!! I had a plumber come by today to take a look at the plumbing to make sure there wasn't any obvious issues. He said from what he can see, everything looks to be ok but without capping off the lines and running tests (could take half a day and I'm sure lots of $$) he doesn't know if there would be a potential leak or anything.

So with that said, I am going to do the following this weekend HOPEFULLY!!
  1. Lay the vinyl tile flooring

  2. Purchase the baseboards

  3. Prime and paint the base boards

  4. Paint the trim boards (yay I've already primed it)

  5. Install the base boards

  6. Install the trim boards

Good To Do list huh??? I want to have all that done and then I can have the sink and toilet installed. I have them sitting in my laundry room...and have for months now! I still need to get some type of a mirror or medicine chest but that isn't a huge deal right now.

Wish me luck :)

Ohhhh and PS. Thank you Karin for explaining how to do the linky dinks!!! Wow, how easy was that???

Happy Friday to all!! I stole this from Hot Tub Lizzy because I thought it was cute and cleaver so here is my attempt at it!!

I AM ... so glad it's already Friday!

I WANT... to wiggle my nose and have all this documentation I need to do be already done.

I HAVE ... the best friends.

I WISH I COULD ... buy that new camera I really want.

I HATE ... having hard wood floors and doggies who shed.

I FEAR ... my children getting hurt (again? let's hope not).

I HEAR ... the doggies snoring.

I SEARCH ... for things to make my life easier.

I DON'T THINK ... people really think before they speak sometimes.

I REGRET ... not doing some work last night.

I LOVE ... my kids, my friends, my doggies, and my family.

I ACHE FOR ... 20 lbs to be gone!

I ALWAYS CRY ... when I watch 'Serendipity'

I AM NOT ... a smoker!

I DANCE ... not nearly as much as I used to.

I SING ... occasionally, especially to embarrass the kiddos.

I NEVER ... LMAO ok this just reminded me of a drinking game called 'I Never' therefore I refuse to answer hahahahaha

I RARELY ... express my feelings like I should.

I CRY WHEN I WATCH ... again, 'Serendipity'

I AM NOT ALWAYS ... as happy as I appear to be.

I HATE THAT ... I don't see my old co-workers anymore. I miss those girls!

I'M CONFUSED ABOUT ... what to do with my yard.

I NEED ... to be working :)

I SHOULD ... finish this blog then work LOL

Thursday, August 14, 2008

Wow, where has this week gone?

I can't believe it's already Thursday! Not that we have any exciting plans for the weekend or anything but I will be glad to accept the weekend soon! Actually this is the last weekend the pool is open so if it's nice out, I think we will hit the pool for the last time this year!

School went well for both kids. Kyler was happy he made it to and from each new class and didn't have any locker issues. He was even able to help some of his friends who were having locker issues. I told him not to be late to class because he was trying to help kids (I'm sure there was goofing around while trying to open them). He told me he was sitting by friends in almost every class. Make note of this post people when I say...I can predict this will become a problem in the coming months...LOL I know my son oh too well!! Miranda loved her class and teacher. She said she had a really great day. Whew...first day down without issues...well...

Last year they would get off the bus around 3:45 each day so I was hanging outside messing in the yard about that time. I see bus 25 come and go...no kiddos to be found. Hmmmm, so I called Kyler and asked where he was and he said 'on the bus'. Ok so then I asked 'which bus Kyler' and he said 'bus 10, I saw Miranda on bus 10 so I thought I better get on the same bus as her'. Well kudos to him for wanting to stick with his sister but they both knew they ride bus 25...ugh!! He tried to assure me it goes right by our house so it was no biggie but I tried to assure him that they have different bus numbers because they go on different routes! Luckily I still had the paper so I found the bus routes and texted him telling him which corner to get off at and that they'd have about 4 blocks to walk. They strolled in about 4:35 complaining how hot the bus was blah blah blah. Um hello??? WHY were you on the wrong bus??? Miranda said her teacher told her she was to get on bus 10 so she did as she was told (thinking maybe there was a change or something). I wrote Miss Burke a note and sent it today that Miranda needs to be on bus 25. hehe

This morning I asked Miranda if she wanted me to walk her to the bus stop and she did so we got out there and met a new girl that was taking the bus for the first time. Her name was Sarah and she's in 8th grade so she and Miranda chit chatted while waiting a few minutes. Bus 25 came, I gave her a kiss on the cheek and off she went. WHEW, thankfully it was nothing like yesterday. Kyler hates riding the bus so we decided to do like we had done last year, I'd take him to school then I'd head to the gym (see by doing that, I am already out so I have no excuse not to go). As we are driving Kyler tells me he forgot to put on deoderant so I ask if he had gym today and he did so eweeeee we made a stop at WalMart and picked some up! He will need it for gym anyways. I had to laugh about it, my kid who is so concerned with how he looks and he forgot that of all things!!

Got the boy to school then I made my stop at the gym for another 30 minutes on the treadmill. I saw the elipticals staring at me so maybe I'll hit those tomorrow. I still need to figure out my new goal weight and when I want to hit it by. I'd say by Christmas but in reality, dieting between Thanksgiving and the first of the year is almost next to impossible so maybe I'll set my goal for Halloween and then take a little time off for the holidays and start up again after the first of the year. Who knows!!!

I have also been looking at cameras, I can't afford a high end dollar one but I can spend a good amount. I think I like the Cannon Rebel, anyone have any thoughts??? I'd love to hear what other people are using. I currently just have a Kodak Easy Share 10 MP point and shoot camera which is great, I really like it but I want something a little better for the kids activities and to be able to zoom in for better shots.

*sigh*

Well they are gone...at school...again...whaaaaaaaa

So yes I was totally excited for this day but now that it's here, I am kinda sad too. Miranda is a total mama's girl and doesn't really have separation anxiety but sometimes doesn't like to leave me. Knowing this, we made plans for both she and Kyler to go to Jen's house and she would take them along with her two kiddos. We got there this morning, all was well, she was getting out of the car the same time Kyler was and then all of a sudden Kyler gets back in the car to give me a hug and says 'I love you mom'. Ok...I lost it and had to fight back the tears. I wasn't expect that to come from a cool 12 yr old kid. So then Miranda saw me tearing up as she was hugging me good bye and then she got totally upset. She does not like to see me upset at all. So her crying and not letting me go went on for about 10 min then I finally looked at Jen and just told her she had to take her and let me go. I knew she'd be fine once I was gone and of course she was. Ugh...crazy kid. Jen called after all the kids were at school and said things went just fine.

Oh and at Back To School night last night, we got to meet Miranda's new teacher. I was wrong, it's MISS Burke. She's young and this is her very first year of teaching. She seems very nice and Miranda said she's pretty, which is very important!! I signed up to be the PTO Room Mom to help with parties and such...eek!

Kyler couldn't get his locker open at first but then I showed him how to do it (stupid combination locks) and he was fine after that! In fact he was going around helping his friends who couldn't get theirs open!!

Here are my babies this morning!

After I dropped them off at Jen's I was a good girl and hit the gym! I did a 30 min program on the treadmill. Didn't want to totally over do it and burn myself out the first day back so I'll ease into it. I kept a log of my weigh ins last time I was doing this and my last one was 5/13...today is 8/13...weird huh? At least it's not on a Friday right?? Other facts...I weighed myself today and I am only 3 lbs heavier than my 5/13 weigh in and I am starting today at 5 lbs lighter than I did when I started in January. I had lost 11 lbs before so I guess I have gained back half of that which I can live with, I was just happy I didn't go over where I started before LOL

Wednesday is Doomsday

I've ranted and raved about tomorrow being the first day of school right?? Now for the dark side of tomorrow....

The diet and gym become my worst enemies again...

If your bored and want to go all the way back to my second post on here (I have yet to figure out how to add the link to things within the post, if anyone would care to share that I would greatly appreciate it), it explains what I was doing. You know the drill, new year, new resolutions aka GET IN SHAPE right??

Well I had been doing SOOOO good! Eating better, hitting the gym 4-5 times a week blah blah blah. I had lost 11 pounds. I had a great routine. Get the kids off to school, go to the gym, then home to work. That way the gym is out of the way and I don't have to have the thought of having to go to the gym hanging over my head all day long. Then summer hit. The kids ruined everything. HA usually it's the kids saying to the parents 'You're ruining my life' well not this time!!! It was extremely hit and miss getting to the gym not to mention eating right while constantly running kids here and there.

I have no excuse after 7:08 tomorrow morning...it's official, I have to start back at the gym don't I? *sigh*

Monday, August 11, 2008

Another Monday

Ok...officially on the major countdown now...school starts on WEDNESDAY!!! WHAHOOOOO!!! The kids are semi excited. Miranda is, she likes who is in her class but she got the one new fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Burke, so she has NO idea what to expect. She's had some awesome teachers up until now so I hope Ms. Newbie doesn't break her streak. Kyler is more concerned about WHO is in his classes and WHERE their lockers are compared to his. This is his first year of having an actual locker and I think he (along with every one of us, admit it) is a tad nervous about not only getting to and from all his classrooms in time, but having to remember that darn locker combination. I'm going to write it on a note card or something so he can keep it in his backpack or trapper or whatever he has decided to use. I remember the first week of school was always so nerve racking, I hope the boy does ok. Tomorrow night is sneak peek night so he can try out opening his locker and Miranda can size up her new teacher.

The kiddos got back from a few days at Grandma Rose's yesterday about 5pm. We had lasagna for dinner then we took Kasey and Bailey for a walk. Conveniently we ended up at Jen's house. I swear my kids go through withdrawals if they don't see Laike and Nacie (Jen's kids, the ones we went to the water park with a few posts ago). Then we all chilled on the couch and watched a movie. I told them this was the last night they were going to be able to stay up late since school is starting this week.

The bus will be here at 7:08...then I will have peace and quiet until about 3:45 each day....ahhhhhhhhhh

I'm a Saucy Blogger!

I am listed on The Secret is in the Sauce's blog roll of Saucy Bloggers :) Thank you ladies!

It's a super fun site and I love reading all the blogs!!!

Rainy Relaxing Saturday

I love days like this, it's just a nice rainy day...I really have nothing much to do (work but that's a bad bad word to say on a Saturday right? I'll ignore it for now) so I rented a movie and am going to park my butt on the couch and watch it after this. Maddie does not dig going out to go potty in the rain, she likes to stick by me under my umbrella then will run do her business then run back to me. She's too cute! Kasey toughs it out, no biggie for her. I got the doggies some new bones for their relaxing Saturday.

So Chris Cagle last night.....can I just say....YUMMY??? Every time I see him in concert he just gets better! We had pretty good seats, it was free so I was really happy to get as close as we were. I took tons of pictures and videos but of course, it was crappy lighting for pictures so my little camera didn't do the best. I'm seriously thinking of biting the bullet and upgrading again. I just bought this one last fall but I want something better. I knew I should've bought a better one then but oh well...back to Chris...YUM! Here are a few of the pictures that came out pretty good

.
