Family Vacation

So I'm gonna do it..

I have been debating on another family vacation even though we just took one to Arkansas this summer. Not a BIG one like where you go for a week and spend a gabillon dollars. I want to do that don't get me wrong, but that is going to take some planning and saving of the dollars LOL

I am going to take the kids to Colorado. It's hard for me to think of this as a vacation because Colorado is my home, it's where I was born, it's where my brother and his family live. The kids have been to Colorado numerous times in their short life span.

But this is going to be different. We are going to fly there. The kids have never flown. I am thinking about getting a cabin up in Estes Park for a couple nights. They have never been there. We will go to Rocky Mountain National Park. They have never been there. We will go hiking in the mountains. They have never done that.

When we've gone before, it's to see family and have either stayed with them or in a hotel close to them. We've made the occasional trip to Vail too. We will see and spend time with my brother and his family of course but this trip is for us, my kiddos and I.

Now that I know I am going to do this and have gotten the approval for vacation days, the fun of planning and booking things can start!!!

I want to and WILL make memories with my kids that they will remember forever :)

oooh Colorado is so beautiful. One of my brothers lives there and I always have the best time visiting him -- drinking beer and snowboarding! You can drink the beer and your kiddos can snowboard! :)

Your pictures are great! Your daughter has such intensity--she would fit in great in our family. A vacation--how fun!!! I love to make those memories. Just think of the pictures you'll get hiking in the mountains! :-)

Oh my...we were in Estes park this past may. We were invited for a little reunion, and I thought it would be fun to drive from Il to Co and back...I have to say, it was an exciting trip!!

Now my dd is asking for another road trip...yeah.

I blogged about it too...

It will be such a great time! I went on an actual vacation with one of my brothers this year and we had a blast. We make an almost annual visit to my younger brother and the kids love that too.

I have only been to Colorado once (I'm an East Coast girl, born-n-bred, what can I say?), but when I was there, we went to Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park and Estes. It was AMAZING. We did a 4 hour horseback ride through the park (the most I could get Hubby to agree to - we were there for a work conference for him and he didn't want his butt to be too sore the next day, LOL) and it was so gorgeous and amazing and breathtaking.......

Someday, we're going back for a vacation, with our kiddo, and you can be dang sure we're going to do another horseback ride through the mountains!

I hope you and the kids have a fantabulous time! I know what you mean about going to your home state not seeming like a vacation; I feel the same way whenever we go back to NJ (where I'm from) to visit my family. Even if we go down the shore, it still doesn't feel like a real "vacation" somehow.......

Cheers!
